What we do

Three disciplines,
one firm.

Nairang helps international investors and frontier-market institutions transact, structure and invest in markets where local fluency, patience and careful structuring matter more than anywhere else. Each engagement is led personally by a Nairang principal, extended — where the work demands it — by specialist partner firms drawn from the firm's disclosed network.

01

Primary focus

Structured Finance— our specialism.

We design and place bespoke debt facilities for lenders, fintechs and project sponsors operating in frontier markets. This is where our structuring experience, relationships and patience deliver the most obvious value: where an off-the-shelf term sheet will not close, and where an innovative structure can unlock capital at scale.

Who we work with

  • Fintech lenders scaling a loan book. Digital lending, BNPL, SME credit and consumer-credit platforms — typically Series A through late-stage growth — where debt is becoming a material part of the funding stack.
  • Banks, NBFCs and specialist lenders. Financial institutions in our core markets raising senior, subordinated, asset-backed or Shariah-compliant facilities to support growth or balance-sheet strategy.
  • Project sponsors and infrastructure developers. Including renewable energy, agri-infrastructure and other long-dated projects requiring DFI and commercial capital.

Capabilities

  • Asset-backed & secured lending facilities. Senior secured term facilities, warehouse lines and receivables-backed structures — typically with offshore holdco borrowers, local-opco guarantees and multi-jurisdictional security packages.
  • Shariah-compliant structured credit. Murabaha, wakala murabaha and related structures that satisfy the borrower's Shariah, legal and tax requirements while remaining bankable to conventional institutional lenders.
  • Project & infrastructure finance. Structuring and placing debt for infrastructure, energy and agri-infrastructure projects — often in partnership with development finance institutions, sovereign wealth funds and strategic counterparties.
  • Hedging & credit enhancement. Embedding FX hedges, guarantees and credit-enhancement overlays to make frontier-market transactions investable for global institutional capital.
  • Placement & execution. Introducing and executing transactions with our lender network — development finance institutions, impact funds, private credit funds, international banks and specialist fintech lenders — alongside legal and regulated advisers as required.

An ongoing client engagement

Nairang has arranged several structured finance facilities for a leading Central Asian fintech, totalling USD 75+ million in aggregate. Facilities were structured to adhere to Shariah principles and have included unsecured Mudaraba, secured Wakala Murabaha and bank facilities supported by DFI partial guarantees.

02

Strategic counsel

Advisory

Nairang acts as trusted counsel to management teams, boards and institutional investors on the questions that most shape a business: where to go, who to partner with, and how to structure the capital that gets them there. Engagements are led by a Nairang principal and — where sector depth is needed — delivered alongside a specialist partner firm from our network. Assignments range from a single introduction to multi-year retained relationships.

Capabilities

  • Corporate strategy. Strategic reviews, market-entry studies and capital-structure work for management teams and boards navigating growth, consolidation or a change in operating environment.
  • Strategic transactions. Partner-led support on M&A, minority investments, joint ventures and strategic partnerships — including sourcing counterparties, structuring terms and coordinating execution alongside legal and regulated advisers.
  • Market entry. Country-entry programmes for international firms — covering legal and tax framework, partner selection, regulatory navigation and on-the-ground deal sourcing. Our geographic footprint makes this one of the most tangible ways we add value.
  • Institutional introductions. Connecting clients with development finance institutions, sovereign wealth funds, strategic investors and our wider network, where the right relationship is often the work itself.

A current engagement

Nairang is advising on a leading pan-African telecom's fintech spinout across the full institutional fundraise cycle, including debt strategy, materials preparation, investor introductions and negotiation support, and transaction structuring and execution.

03

Allocation & portfolio thinking

Asset Management

Our asset-management offering is being built deliberately, and at a measured pace. We are developing it around the same sourcing discipline and structuring experience that defines the rest of our work — focused on the frontier markets we know well, and always in partnership with appropriately authorised counterparties for execution.

Where we are today

  • Origination. Sourcing differentiated private-market opportunities — structured credit, project finance, co-investments — through our network of local partners and sector specialists in the markets we serve.
  • Structuring. Designing the legal, tax and security architecture that makes a frontier-market opportunity investable for international institutional capital.
  • Regulated execution. Any activity requiring regulatory authorisation is conducted through, or in association with, appropriately authorised asset managers and platforms — never by us directly.
  • A measured build. This offering is being developed with the right partners, the right structures and the right first clients, rather than chasing scale. If this work resonates with you, Nairang welcomes an early conversation.

Mandates

Nairang has experience running segregated mandates for institutional clients — including a current programme sourcing and managing distressed debt with asymmetric upside. The firm is equipped to source, structure, execute and risk-manage complex situations, and to structure mandates flexibly to satisfy each investor's requirements.

We are selective about the mandates we take on. If your situation fits the work described here, we'd welcome a first conversation.
